Geraniaceae (Geranium family)
Geranium robertianum (Herb Robert)
|
This is a plant that like P.vulgaris I never took any notice of until when on a botany field-trip to practice keying species a lecturer pointed it out to the class what it was and that it can be seen growing along most roadsides/hedgerows and since then I've noticed just how common this little plant is.
I also had to keep repeating the name of the plant to myself as I consistently had anything but 'herb robert' in my head. (Another reason to stay with scientific names) It appears to even flower all throughout the winter and was one of the plants I recorded for the New Year Plant Hunt of 2016. |
Geranium lucidum (Shining Crane's bill)
I found this plant when walking out from Killarney National Park growing up a wall that had lots of other wildflowers growing on it like U.rupestris which you can see in the bottom photo (the small flower spike and kidney shape leaf). Photographed: End of May 2016 |
Geranium dissectum (Cut leaved Crane'sbill)
This was a plant that for a while I put on the list 'to ID later' as I often saw it but didn't get around to take a closer look. It was also one of the plants I recorded for the New Year Plant Hunt. Improved photos on the way. Photographed January 2017
